A Message From Rezwana Choudhury Bannya

I am very pleased to know that Rupa is playing a significant role in promoting our Bengali culture, especially Rabindra Sangeet, in the Greater Houston area through her Surangan Music School. Most of her students were born and raised in a cultural environment far removed from the traditions that Rupa is working so passionately to preserve and promote. It is, indeed, an extremely challenging task. Yet, the sapling Rupa planted seven years ago continues to grow, with new leaves emerging each year. This is a testament to her dedication, perseverance, and hard work. She has successfully overcome many obstacles and is clearly on the right path toward achieving her goal of spreading the beauty of Rabindra Sangeet throughout the United States. My heartfelt support and best wishes will always remain with Surangan and all its activities as it strives to create meaningful opportunities to preserve, strengthen, and keep our Bengali culture alive for future generations. Finally, I extend my warmest wishes and blessings to all the students of Surangan. May they continue to learn, grow, and carry the rich tradition of Rabindra Sangeet forward with pride and love.

Rupa’s deep love and passion for Bengali music, particularly Rabindra Sangeet, have given her the strength and determination to take on this challenge. What began humbly eight years ago has today grown into one of the most prominent centers for learning Rabindra Sangeet. This remarkable journey demonstrates how Rupa has overcome numerous challenges through her dedication, perseverance, and hard work. She is clearly on the right path toward achieving her goal of promoting and spreading Bengali music throughout the Houston area. I wish Rupa and Surangan every success in the years ahead. My heartfelt blessings and best wishes will always be with Rupa and all her students.
